Steve Lyons is excited to be returning to the role of program coordinator and drill designer for 7th Regiment’s 2008 season. A recent graduate from the University of Connecticut, Steve is now a private brass instructor at Summit Studios Performing Arts Center in Manchester, as well as an adjunct music faculty member at The Rectory School and Pomfret School, two private boarding schools in Northeastern Connecticut. He also works around Connecticut as a freelance trumpet player and private trumpet and horn teacher. After graduating from East Lyme High School and marching for three years with the Connecticut Hurricanes Senior Drum & Bugle Corps, Steve joined the Boston Crusaders where he played soprano/trumpet and mellophone for the 2001-2005 seasons. Along the way, he won first place finishes in I&E mellophone contests in Denver in 2004 and Providence in 2005. In 2005, he was voted "Crusader of the Year" by his fellow members. Steve has worked with several notable high school marching band and winter programs in CT and NY over the past few years, including Killingly High School, the Norwich Free Academy, Trumbull High School, and East Lyme High School. He has worked with these programs in various capacities, including caption coordinator, instructor, designer, and clinician. Independent groups he has instructed include Kinetic, IA Winter Guard from New London; the Connecticut Hurricanes; and the Colts from Dubuque, Iowa. In addition to his responsibility to coordinate and oversee the entire package for 7th Regiment, Steve will also be working with the Boston Crusaders for the 2008 season as a visual technician and is fortunate and excited to be promoting and developing excellence in both of these formidable New England based drum and bugle corps.
